Revel is a $2.4-billion beachfront lifestyle resort opening May 15 with two recently welcomed celebrity chefs as culinary partners. The 6.3 million-sf, 1,800-room resort is set to open as The Boardwalk’s complete entertainment destination with 14 restaurants, and Iron Chefs Jose Garces and Marc Forgione will oversee four of them.

The two chefs will bring their signature styles from their restaurants in Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, DC. Chef Garces is the recipient of James Beard Foundation’s “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” award. Chef Forgione is the youngest American-born chef and owner to receive a Michelin star for three consecutive years.

Chef Jose Garces opened his first restaurant in Philadelphia in 2005. Seven years later, the acclaimed chef owns twelve restaurants in the Philadelphia, Chicago and Scottsdale areas.

Amada is Garces’ take on an authentic Andalusian tapas bar. It will feature Spanish-inspired creations in portions perfectly sized for mixing or sharing among groups. Red or white sangria complement the small plates, and with their extensive wine list, there’s a wine to pair with just about anything on their menu. An added plus, the restaurant will host live flamenco performances. Seating capacity is 285 pax.

Whiskey is king at Village Whiskey, where the chef serves up inventive cocktails to go with American bar bites, all spiffed up with his signature flair. The restaurant will have one of the most comprehensive collections of whisky in Atlantic City, offering bourbon, rye and scotch options from Scotland, Canada, Ireland, the US, and even a few from Japan. Sample menu items include homemade pickles, juicy burgers and oysters from the raw bar. Total seating at Village Whiskey is 93 pax.

Garces’ third restaurant, Distrito Cantina, is modeled after the chef’s popular taco truck and will serve colorful cocktails and delectable dishes out of its Guapos “take-out” window. Menu items include tasty treats like the mahi mahi tacos with chipotle remoulade, avocado, red cabbage and lime. Or try the Equites—sweet corn with queso fresco, chipotle and lime. The Cantina’s Margarita Bar will feature an exciting array of Mexican-inspired cocktails like the Jefe, or “Chef,” Garces’ signature margarita made with Don Julio reposado tequila, combier and lime. Distrito Cantina seats 74 pax.

“Atlantic City has always been one of my favorite places to enjoy a great night,” Garces says. “Revel will be a great addition to the city’s offerings and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
