The wait is almost over.

Before the end of this year, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel in North Carolina will become the largest and possibly most accommodating hotel in all of the Carolinas.

The $633 million expansion that was overwhelmingly approved by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribal Council back in January 2007, resulted in a slew of improvements, not only in terms of increased amount of rooms – that’s 1,108 to be exact.

The Resort expanded its dining selection to include Paula Deen’s Kitchen, with a lot less butter apparently, and a new Food Court that showcases Dunkin’ Donuts Express, UNO Pizza, Johnny Rockets and Winning Streaks Deli, featuring Boar’s Head meat. Also the new Chefs Stage features a full salad bar, comfort food, BBQ, Mexican, Asian, Italian and Desserts of the World. Once completed Harrah’s will boast a luxury spa, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and BRIO Tuscan Grill.

The casino floor expansion that is underway will showcase new sections like the Woodland Moon section that houses a new Entertainment Lounge. Also Earth Water zone has a new bar with bar-top machines.

It’s not all fun and games. Business minded visitors will enjoy the 15,000 sf of meeting space in the hotel plus a new Events Center that seats 3,035. The center can host a banquet for 750 or a tradeshow with 120 10×10 booths.  Now for a little bit of work-related amusement: the 18-hole, Par 72 championship course Sequoyah National Golf Club, just three miles from the hotel, is available for tournaments as part of any meeting experience.
