When the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate debuts its new 55,000 sf conference center in January 2013, the hotel’s available indoor space will nearly double to 128,000 sf, in addition to 70,000 sf of outdoor function space. Central to the expansion, the 28,800 sf ballroom will be easily divided into eight flexible meeting rooms equipped with advanced communications and computer technology. It will be the largest of three ballrooms.
“The expansion addresses future demand and responds to planners’ requests for more space to complement our 720 guest rooms and 50 villas,” says Jean Spaulding, director of sales/marketing.
An open pre-function area, event lawn and a large loading dock for easy load-ins have been incorporated into the new design. Spaulding says the more open design will facilitate meetings with 12- to 20-foot ceilings. An outdoor event lawn is immediately adjacent to the 8,400 sf of pre-function space. Décor in the 46 meeting rooms and ballrooms showcase native Florida landscape and botanicals, a consistent theme throughout the resort. Light walnuts, natural stones and tiles, and a colorful palette of indigos, fuchsias and fresh yellows exemplify the Florida lifestyle. The chosen colors were inspired by the citrus groves that once inhabited the resort’s property.
“The overall feel of the Osceola Conference Center is that of a calm sanctuary, an ideal setting for meetings and events,” says Spaulding.
The 4-Diamond resort encompasses two championship golf courses and world headquarters of the Leadbetter Golf Academy. There is also an 850-foot lazy river, a large pool with cabanas and the full-service Mokara Spa. The resort offers five unique dining experiences, from pan-Asian cuisine and sushi at Zen to the more casual poolside salads and wraps at Croc’s. David’s Sports Bar & Grille offers a relaxed atmosphere where guests can toss darts while waiting for their steak to finish sizzling.
Plans are already underway for future development, from additional rooms and meeting space to new sports and recreation amenities.
“In competitive markets like Orlando and Kissimmee, you have to keep planning and improving to maintain positioning,” says Spaulding.
