Still in its infancy, the one year old W St. Petersburg is making serious strides in capturing the attention of travelers and locals looking to marinate in the fabulousness that is synonymous with the brand. With plans to aggressively expand in Europe in the next four years, Salim Olmez, director of marketing for the W St. Petersburg, fills us in on how the hotel is doing in its first year of operations.
Prevue: Tell us about W’s first year in St. Petersburg?
Selim Olmez: W St. Petersburg became one of the trendiest spots in the city right after the opening in April 2011 and the first year in Russia was a huge success thanks to the support, trust and loyalty given to us by our clients, business partners and the community. From the very beginning the hotel has occupied the niche that was till then vacant in the area and has been awarded in many prestigious international and local rankings.
